Spring Garden. Soccer. Mother's Day. Swiss Bread and Savers Treasures. May 2018

Since I am horrible at keeping current with a blog, and it's now the middle of winter, looking at a flourishing garden makes me so happy πŸ˜€
I finally got some creeping flax established (I think I've planted it five times) with the help of sprinklers, and I love it!
Unfortunately, these aren't my lilacs, these are at my Grandma Woodward's house,  but look at them!
It is safe to assume that we cute quite a few to bring home to our table😍
Back at the ol' hacienda, Preston and I try to keep up with the weeds, but it's an uphill battle, but things were beginning to green up

Sweet Mother's Day note from Mustard "Mom I luv you"
From Hayden
My sweet boys
I'm not really great at making bread, but I love it. I especially love the farmhouse white from Great Harvest. Once when I was at the "Bread store" I was talking to the girl about the different types of bread, and she told me the farmhouse had milk, eggs and butter. I then went home and looked through my recipes, and my "Swiss bread" from my Kolher friends sounded similar....and since then, the boys and I have been making break like maniacs.

The Swiss bread makes a lot, I have since bought more bread pans and once recipe makes four hearty loaves.
Preston dressed up in his Benjamin Franklin costume to go see the fifth grade's Walk of fame
Preston is always rummaging through the recycling to find things to make other things with. Currently he is working on air filters made with mesh bags and sunny d bottles.
The two most patriotic kids on the block.
Brookser.
Preston, David and Hayden getting the drip line and garden all ready to go. Drip line in the garden is wonderful!
Happy little helpers.
David sticks to the veggie garden, and I stick with the rest.
Late May and early June are always so beautiful.

Another Soccer Saturday. Preston and the gray wolves.

Hayden and the ...I can't remember what their actual team name was, but Hayden wanted to call them the "Spaghetti Heads" which I really loved

Brooks.
The van is basically a truck.  This particular day we found lots of great things at Savers
Like this desk which will end up in Hayden's room. It's just the right size.
This is why we will never park a car in the garage πŸ˜•
I've had a couple of opportunities to make "living arrangements," it something different, but it always include an orchid...and sticks from the yard.
Took advantage of a rare, windless day in West Jordan and spray painted the patio chairs I got from savers for $2 each. I have since got green cushions, and I think I want to paint them navy this year...
Bernie and the Granster came for a visit

Porch Swing Project. July 2017.

I was a funny little kid, and wanted a porch swing for my birthday when I was like 12. I got one :)
It was hunter green striped, and one of the cushions was a little shredded from a dog incident a lot of years ago. But it worked, we use it all the time. I had wanted to update it for a while...but I'm cheap, and cushions/fabric are expensive.
I'd been watching these cushions at Target all summer, and finally, the stars aligned and they were a pretty great deal...so I got six of them. Just kidding, I got eight, I got two extra, Granny had just gotten Bernie...who eats everything :)
And then I got some flat black spray paint at Lowe's and painted the frame...and the swing where the cushions wouldn't cover.
I tied the chair cushions together to make a faux swing cushion, and there you go. There is something about this pattern, it's not really my old lady style, but I love it. It's more my Cherokee Style ;)
Love it even more with floral pillows from last year :)
I, of course, continued to watch all the sales at Target, and because it was the year of the rug, I ended up with the matching rug for a steal of a deal. Haha, we don't really need a rug, or have an appropriate space for an outdoor rug, but it's cute.

Summer Stuff and Splash pads. July 2017

Not many people get to have their dad or husband home all summer, we count ourselves really lucky.
One thing we've had on the to-do list for the last three years is paint the doors...we got two of them done..we still have like 20 to-do...
For Father's Day David got a new grill, for once, KSL was good to us. The boys were excited to clean it up...
and get to grilling! I love  these grill basket things! We used to put all this stuff onto shiskabobs (which took five hours) and now I just smash them all into these baskets, which takes five minutes! So much easier!
Hayden, who is the pickiest eater, in the strangest way possible was very interested in learning the art of grilling. And usually, if he is involved with making something, he'll eat it. Fingers-crossed

I found these cool tangrams, which I am sure were for an overhead projector, at Savers. The boys had a fun time making snowflakes, and then taking selfies.

 haha, oh Preston.
We went to see Cars3....and we were the only people there.
IKEA on Kid's Eat Free Tuesday...my little Haydo doesn't eat no meat (It's okay, I make lamb!)...but who can resist a swedish meatball?
...so every year I get hooked on buying some sort of thing, this year, it's rugs. Indoor rugs, outdoor rugs, every and all rugs. So...every time I see a rug that's a deal, I buy it. David rolls his eyes. I try it out, and then usually take it back. However, I did end up with some perfect rugs!...but this was not one of them :(
One day we headed to the splash pad in West Jordan, the boys had a blast! Haha, I like the idea of the splash pad, that you can't really drowned....but I didn't feel like there was enough for Brooks, haha, they needed a little river or something. So next time I'm designing a splash pad, I'll make sure it incorporates a little danger and have a river/small pool for the little ones
