Summer, Eighth Anniversary and a Poodle. Aug 2017

I remember, before we had a house with a yard, David said he so looked forward to mowing the lawn.. I don't know if that's still how he feels, but the boys are usually willing to help :)
We've been getting into badminton this summer, haha, this was from one of the more competitive games :)
And here's Granny with the ants :) The dirt is genuine red dirt from Moab. Haha, we tried so  many things to get those ants from the bottles to the ant farm... pipettes to such them up and then puff them into the farm was I think the most successful :)
David and I celebrated our 8th Anniversary on Aug 7. We celebrated with a delicious dinner at Ruth's Chris in Park City.
We usually, and when I say "usually" I mean the one other time we have been, we each get our own ribeye. This time we opted for the "Porter House to Share".... let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
...and they brought us free dessert! Yay!

What's the gift for the 8th anniversary? I don't know, but we got a poodle. Haha, poodle, who would have thought. But after talking to our friend who breed them, we decided the teddy bear cut was okay :)

We picked him up, named him "Dash" and then surprised the boys, who were at Granny's.
...when we got to Granny's, the boys were playing in Bernie's crate...
I think they were in a state of disbelief, but quickly warmed up to the idea.
 Oh little Dash.
 Oh Brooks.
Haha, we weren't really prepared for a dog. Granny gave us her old cat bed...
...it didn't work out so well, so we went and bought Dasher a new bed.

It's a big commitment to get a dog. I am excited for the day that I can leave him alone and trust him. We've been going to semi-private dog training lessons, and he's gotten a lot better. And I am really getting into it. Dash is pretty calm, very attentive, sort-of well behaved for new people/situations. Everything you read says how intelligent poodles are. At first, I just loved them because they didn't shed, yay! So my next thing to work on is to teach him to be a bird dog. We don't hunt. We will probably never hunt. Ever. But our neighbor does, haha, maybe he'll take him sometimes!
