Welcome Christmas. This year we planned on going to the Sing at Grandma Woodward's and then going up to the cabin. Well, since it was to be a white Christmas, it was snowing like mad all Christmas Eve. I'm a big whimp-o when it comes to driving, so we missed the sing, but thankfully we got to the cabin all in one piece.
And lucky for us, it was only 9 degrees when we got there, so we didn't have to worry about the roads thawing and then freezing into a sheet of ice.
After we packed all our stuff in from the car, we opened our Christmas jammies. Aleese found the perfect pajamas for Hayden almost a year ago, we've been saving them since then, and I was really happy that they still fit.
After we got into our new Christmas pajamas, we stayed awake for what we could of "The Grinch." We are pretty much party animals, I'm sure it was only like 9:30.
The next morning, we totally slept in. Katie didn't even come wake us up until 6:00.
We all got up and headed downstairs...
We were glad to see that Santa had found us. I love looking through the socks, mine and everyone elses. Hayden couldn't have been happier with his sock full of marshmallows. After we looked through our things from Santa, we sat and listen to David read the Christmas story.
The Christmas miracle this year was that Granny and Grandpa actually got up before 7:00.
After they got up we remembered that Santa had forgotten a special present for Hayden in the other room.... the VACUUM!
Even though Hayden already had a vacuum, and even though he was happy pretending that a piece of ribbon was a vacuum the day before, he was still really excited for this one. And it was "The Ball!" He played with it the rest of the morning.
Katie was surprised with a clock made out of a lacquered cow pie clock. Granny had been keeping this a secret for some time, when I asked her what she was getting Katie for Christmas she would only tell me that I could make it, but I would never think of it. She was right. You can find out more about these clocks here.
We opened presents and then ate our traditional Mexican Breakfast. Feliz Navidad. We are so blessed to have all the things that we need, and to get some things that we want. We had a beautiful Christmas, it was nice to see the snow outside, and to be warm inside.
Here are some of the pictures from our ornament exchange. This year's theme was "holidays."
Here's Granny's cupid from David.
Here's Katie's turkey from me.
Here's my firecracker from Granny. haha a Match and club crackers.
This is David's Pot O' Gold, complete with real gold, from Grandpa.
Here's Scott's New Year's Party Ornament from Bee.
Here's Dad's Halloween Ornament from Scott. This one "creeped" Katie out b/c it looked like an actual ornament. haha.
Katie's Easter Basket to Bee.
Later that week we took the Snowcat up to the tubing hill. Holy Mole, it was COLD! We only did a few runs because it was so freezing. Like probably 15 degrees or less, and then the wind was blowing...brr.
Here's our crazy driver.
Here's Grandpa, Katie and David. Unfortunately they didn't go too fast this year.
Here's Granny getting ready for her run....she wasn't too excited about wearing the Hero Cam.
There goes Granny and Katie. Wahoo!
Luckily Granny got a new thermos for Christmas so we could warm up a bit with some hot cocoa. We'll have to go again because the freeze factor didn't let us stay too long.
David had to get a picture of this... Hayden went to take a nap, but wouldn't go without his pomegranate. Instead of sleeping with a blanket or stuffed animal, our two year old sleeps with a pomegranate.
On the 27th it was Granny's birthday. We made a yummy Texas Chocolate Cake and ran out of candles for the top :) Happy Birthday Granny.
We had a fun Christmas holiday. We were glad that it was warm inside. One night we sat around the table and watched the temperature outside drop. ...two degrees...one degree... zero degrees...then we sat and waited for it to go negative. It went back to one degree, so we went to bed.
